CTI 100: You CAN Teach Online

ATTENTION: Registered students. Get started with CTI 100!

Designed for newcomers to online teaching and learning, this course exposes faculty to the student side of online learning, while introducing them to key issues when getting started with online teaching. It focuses on the mechanics of developing, conducting, and evaluating an online class.

Successful participants will be able to:

  • Plan and construct how to present and teach a course online.

  • Apply elements of best online course design principles.

  • Identify resources for the development of online course materials.

  • Understand the adult learner as it relates to online teaching and learning.

  • Learn effective online course evaluation assessments.

    • Key issues in online learning
       

  • Translating teaching style to the online class

    • Teaching Styles

    • Facilitative Learning
       

  • Good Practice In The Online Classroom

    • Instructional design choices

    • Conducting the class

    • Instructional design choices

    • Conducting the class

Other Notes:

Seventy-five percent of the coursework must be completed to pass the course and receive a certificate. Lurking is not enough. Upon satisfactory completion, participants receive a Cyber Teachers' Certificate.

Most institutions award professional development (growth) credits for the program. The minimum number of hours expected for the course is 30 (approximately two hours a day / per week, excluding weekends). Upon satisfactory completion of all three courses in the CTI series, participants quality to purchase a denim CTI shirt.
