Cyber Teachers' Institute

Cyber Teachers' Institute (CTI)

The Cyber Teachers' Institute was developed to bring teachers together to learn from each others' knowledge and experiences, evaluate best teaching practices, and search for solutions to the challenges of online learning.

CTI courses have been offered annually since 2001.

Cyber Teachers' Institute (CTI) courses are offered entirely online in an asynchronous format.

Upcoming CTI Offerings
Course: Humanizing Your Online Class Course Dates: July 16 - 22
Facilitator: Jim Marteney
Advisory: Teaching Experience Recommended
Registration: Opens April 30, 2012
Cost: $45.00 per person
Description:

Taking and teaching an online class can be a lonely, isolating, endeavor. One of the biggest challenges in teaching an online course is to give the students a feeling that they are a member of a class and not a solitary learner, as if they were taking a correspondence course. We need to make a special effort to make our classes the types of places our students want to attend and contribute. During this class we will be sharing ideas to really create a community of learners and we will explore over 20 ways to “humanize” our online classes and make them a more inviting place for students to learn.

Many institutions award professional development credits for completion of CTI courses. The minimum number of hours expected for the course is 10 (approx. two hours a day). Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion.
