You set your personal information in My Profile. Read on!

You can share personal information with other users by making that information available in My Profile. You set up your profile once, and it's available in all of your course sites. In addition to showing your photo (or avatar), you can also have links to your email, AIM, Yahoo Messenger, and much more. To access My Profile and set up your preferences:

• Go to one (any) of your course sites.
• Click on Discussion & Private Messages.
• Click on the My Profile link at the top of a Discussion page.

The following describes the options that you can set in your profile.  

1) Register Information

• You cannot edit the User field. It is established by your institution. It is the userid that you log on with.
• Although it appears that you can edit your email address, you can't do that here. If you need to change your email address, you do that in MyWorkspace >> Account.

2) General Information about Yourself

• It is optional to include any information in this area.
• Any information you include here will be visible to other users when they view your Profile.
• Fill in any boxes you want to share - a link will appear under your message for others to click on and contact you.
• Your signature statement (optional) will show up under each of your discussion posts and private messages.

3) Preferences

• In the Preferences area, choose the options you want.
• You can return here to edit your options at any time.

4) Avatar Control Panel

• You can upload an image from your desktop or link to an image already on the web somewhere that you'd like to use as an avatar. This image will appear next to your post.
• Before uploading an image, please resize it so that it an appropriate size. 130 x 130 pixels or smaller is recommended.
• You can always return and remove an avatar or replace it with a new one. Remove the old one before uploading a new one. Check the Remove this Avatar and submit; then return and upload the new.
• The new avatar may not appear until after you log out and back in again.

5) Submit

• After setting all the options you want, be sure to click the Submit button for them to take effect.
• Your profile is "global," which means that choices made in one site will take effect in all of your sites. You can't use one photo in one class and a different photo for another class.
• If you edit your profile, you may have to clear your cache or restart your browser before you see any changes, depending on your browser's cache settings.
