You may need to add links on the left menu of your Etudes site to allow students to go quickly to important sites. This may be the college library, a publisher’s companion site, or a professional resource that you rely on.
Avoid adding too many links on the left menu of your site, as it will overwhelm students and won’t be able to find the important ‘rooms’ of your online classroom. If you have many websites, add them in Modules or Resources.
Adding Site Links
To add a menu item on the left menu of your site, follow these steps:
- Click on Site Setup on the left menu.
Click on Edit to the right of Site Links.
Enter a title for the menu item and the full URL (including the http:// or https://).
Note: If your web resource has an insecure URL (http), Etudes will check the New Window? option for you.
- To add an additional site link click on Add. A new row will be inserted to enter your second link’s data.
When you are finished adding your site links, click on Done.
You will see them on the left menu of your site.
Ordering Site Links
You may find that you want to change the order that the links appear in your site’s menu.
To do so, return to Site Setup, click on Edit by Site Links, and then hold down an up/down blue arrow with the mouse and drag it to the new location. Click on Done. The new order will now take effect on the left menu of your site.
Removing Site Links
To remove a link that you had added on the left menu of your site, return to Site Setup, click on Edit by Site Links, and then click on the delete icon in the row of the link that you no longer want to display. It will be removed.
Linking to Publisher Content
If you are working with a publisher who supports the LTI specification (Learning Tool Interoperability), you can add a link to their content or services on the left menu of your class and offer single sign-on to your students. Review the following instructions to learn how to add site links to publisher content.
