Trainer Certification Program

Do you enjoy training, mentoring, and supporting users? Are you experienced in online teaching, learning, and collaboration strategies? Consider becoming a certified Etudes trainer!

Participation in our trainer's program is by invitation only. Interested individuals must meet the following requirements:

1. Master Etudes-NG to support learning and users

a. Complete "Introduction to Etudes 101" (online). Prospective trainers must receive an A in the class.

b. Develop a course in Etudes-NG and teach it in the system (one term minimum).

c. Demonstrate leadership in mentoring and supporting faculty on your campus or in the Users Group forums. Involved members of the user community emerge, naturally, as lead facilitators. 

2. Complete coursework in online teaching & learning

a. Complete Cyber Teachers' Institute Series.

  • CTI 100, You CAN Teach Online
  • CTI 101, Classic CTI
  • CTI 102, Advanced CTI

Note: Equivalent coursework in online teaching and learning or instructional design will be considered in place of the CTI series. Transcripts are required.

b. Demonstrated online teaching experience, in addition to coursework, is preferred in order to facilitate online training. Hybrid teaching qualifies.

3. Apply for admission in trainers' program. Etudes members who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply.

4. Submit a minimum of two letters of recommendation for admission in the Trainers' Program. Letters must be submitted by a supervising administrator in the field of learning technology or distance education, AND by one of our lead trainers, and must provide evidence of the candidate's exemplary skills, knowledge, and experience in supporting faculty with technology, course design, and online teaching.

Letters of recommendation must be mailed or faxed to:

5. Complete internships (by invitation). If you meet 1-3 above, with stellar performance, you will be contacted to complete the following requirements of the program:

  • Under the mentorship of lead facilitators, serve as an intern in two of the Introduction to Etudes-NG online sessions, with increasing levels of responsibility.
     

  • Additional internships will be assigned to individuals who need more experience in the system's features and supporting users. 
     

  • Demonstrate model facilitator and participant performance in the training and internship.

6. To be considered for a training assignment for the Etudes Project, graduates must meet all five requirements above and must be recommended to the project's leadership by one of the lead trainers that they served internships with.

7. Graduates who are are offered a training assignment with Etudes, Inc. receive a denim CTI Trainer shirt.
